Jakarta, Indonesia – May 25, 2025 – The inaugural Global Business Summit for High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation was recently held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Co-hosted by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the Indonesian government, and other partners, the summit brought together global leaders from governments, businesses, international organizations, and academia to explore how high-quality Belt and Road collaboration can contribute to more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable global development. Distinguished attendees included Ms. Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations; Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China; and H.E. Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia.

At the summit, JinkoSolar, the global leading PV and ESS supplier, joined with ecosystem partners across the solar supply chain in Belt and Road countries to jointly launch the Global Solar Sustainable Alliance (GSSA). This initiative is guided by the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to accelerate holistic progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices across the global solar industry and to foster a more positive and sustainable impact in international markets.

Ms. Meng Liu, Head of the UN Global Compact Network China, expressed strong support for the initiative, stating: “We appreciate the contributions of the global solar sector—particularly Chinese photovoltaic enterprises—in advancing the global energy transition. This initiative is well aligned with the principles of the UN Global Compact, emphasizing corporate responsibility in environmental protection, human rights, and good governance. We look forward to collective actions from the solar industry that can set a global benchmark for sustainable development.”

JinkoSolar reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to integrating technological innovation with green development. The company continues to invest in building a resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem and welcomes global partners to co-create green supply chain standards. Through collaboration, JinkoSolar aims to establish a transparent and trustworthy accountability system that accelerates global sustainable progress.

The GSSA focuses on three core pillars: Just Transition, People-Centered Development, and Improved Governance. It outlines key directions for concrete action and encourages all signatories to jointly develop a roadmap to guide implementation. The UN Global Compact also invites more photovoltaic enterprises and supply chain partners to join the initiative and work together in advancing sustainability across the industry.
