Recently, the pre-departure meeting for the Chinese delegation to B20 South Africa was held in Beijing. Ren Hongbin, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Mxolisi Mgojo, Chair of B20 South Africa, together with representatives from the three Chinese enterprises serving as co-chairs of this year’s B20 working groups—China Merchants Group (Trade and Investment), State Grid Corporation of China (Energy and Just Transition), and JinkoSolar Co., Ltd. (Industrial Transformation and Innovation)—attended the meeting and shared their remarks.
As the co-chair of the B20 South Africa Industrial Transformation and Innovation Working Group, JinkoSolar, representing Chinese private enterprises, offered constructive input and recommendations during the drafting of the policy paper. Focusing on the theme “How to Accelerate Industrialization through Innovation and Sustainable Technologies,” the policy recommendations were finalized and submitted to the G20 Summit in South Africa. The three key action recommendations include:
1. Drive industrial growth through strategic planning and innovation.
Policymakers, industrial strategy agencies, and the private sector are encouraged to strengthen collaboration to formulate industry strategies aligned with national development plans and responsive to enterprise needs, leveraging innovation platforms, data resources, and R&D capabilities to build long-term competitiveness.
2. Broaden and deepen value chain capacities.
By facilitating enterprise upgrades, promoting regional trade integration, and developing the workforce within strategic industries and cross-border production systems, comprehensively enhance value chain competitiveness and inclusive employment levels.
3. Scale up the deployment of green, sustainable, and digital technologies.
Green and low-carbon technologies, along with digitalization, are key drivers of industrial transformation. These technologies not only strengthen supply chain resilience and improve energy efficiency but also, by catalyzing the growth of the service and technology sectors, enhance economic complexity, diversify exports, embed economies deeper into global value chains, and create new momentum for productivity and employment growth.
As a leading Chinese photovoltaic company, JinkoSolar has participated in the B20 Summit ten times and served as co-chair on three occasions, contributing China’s expertise to global clean energy development. The company will also attend and deliver a speech at the upcoming B20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, this November.
