Recently, JinkoSolar signed a supply agreement with a renowned UK energy developer for 124MW of high-efficiency Tiger Neo 3.0 photovoltaic modules. This order will be entirely deployed in large-scale ground-mounted solar projects within the UK.
As one of the world's earliest markets to achieve grid parity for solar power, the UK has intensified its renewable energy deployment in recent years, accelerating its energy transition. However, the country's climate—characterized by frequent cloud cover and rainfall throughout the year, coupled with relatively moderate solar resources—along with the ground-mounted projects' relentless pursuit of lower Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) and long-term reliability, imposes stringent demands on the comprehensive performance of PV modules. Data indicates that overcast and rainy days account for 85% of the year in the UK, with suboptimal sunlight conditions prevailing for extended periods. Addressing these challenges, the newly contracted Tiger Neo 3.0 modules leverage core advantages of N-type TOPCon technology to precisely meet the needs of UK projects:
1. Exceptional low-light response capability, boosting power generation across all time periods
Tailored for the UK's frequent overcast conditions and dispersed sunlight resources, the Tiger Neo 3. 0 modules deliver outstanding low-light performance, maintaining 95%-98% relative power output even under low irradiance. This enables maximum capture of diffuse light during dawn, dusk, and cloudy weather, effectively extending the plant's operational hours and significantly boosting lifetime energy yields.
2.0 High Power Output and High Bifacility
With constraint land resources in the UK, large-scale power plants must achieve higher installed capacity on limited land. The Tiger Neo 3.0 module achieves efficiency of 24.8% and a front-side power output range of 650-670W plus 85-90% bifacility. Its higher power density per unit area enables increased installed capacity on the same land footprint, reducing balance-of-system (BOS) costs for racking, cabling, and installation, thereby helping projects achieve lower levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
3. Lifetime Reliability Assurance for Long-Term Power Plant Returns
Tiger Neo 3.0 modules undergo rigorous quality control systems, passing enhanced tests for salt fog and ammonia resistance. They reliably withstand harsh coastal environments in the UK, including high humidity and strong winds. With first-year degradation <1% and linear degradation of only -0.35%, coupled with a 30-year linear power warranty, they ensure stable, efficient operation throughout the plant's lifecycle, delivering predictable returns for investors.
