On March 16, 2026, at the Japan PV EXPO, JinkoSolar globally launched its Five-Star Fire-Resistant Modules, meeting the world’s most stringent fire safety requirements and the highest fire resistance standard.  

 As photovoltaics become deeply integrated into architecture, the fire resistance of modules has become a "lifeline" for safety in projects such as high-density residential and commercial buildings. Facing the industry’s most rigorous safety challenges, JinkoSolar, leveraging its robust technological platform, has launched its Five-Star Fire-Resistant Modules. Through fundamental innovations in materials science and cutting-edge flame-retardant technology, these modules truly achieve: no ignition, no fire spread, static electricity prevention, resistance to wind and snow, and protection against short circuits caused by moisture penetration.

 1. Fire Rating Class A: Setting a New Standard for Rooftop PV Safety

 For buildings with high safety requirements, the fire resistance of rooftop modules directly determines project approval. JinkoSolar’s Five-Star Fire-Resistant Modules have passed the UL 790 Class A certification—the most stringent standard in North America—representing the highest level of fire resistance in the PV industry.

 According to the UL 790 standard, Class A certification requires passing two rigorous tests:

 l  Flame Spread Test: After ignition by an external fire source, the distance the flame spreads across the roof surface must not exceed 1.82 meters;

 l  Burning Block Test: A 12-inch × 12-inch (approximately 30 cm × 30 cm) glowing wooden block is dropped onto the module surface, and the module must not be burned through.

 In contrast, the Class C rating commonly used for standard modules has a flame spread limit of up to 3.9 meters, and the test block measures only 2 inches × 2 inches. JinkoSolar’s Class A certification means that the modules can effectively block the spread of fire in real-world fire scenarios, buying critical time for building fire safety.

 2. Comprehensive Material-Based Fire Retardant System: Building a Strong Safety Barrier from the Source

 The core of module fire resistance lies in the materials. Jinko’s five-star fire-resistant modules, in accordance with the IEC 61730-2:2023 standard, establish a comprehensive flame-retardant system:

 l  Critical insulation materials meet the highest UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant rating

 All critical insulation and structural materials within the module meet the V-0 flame-retardant rating, self-extinguishing within 10 seconds after the flame is removed, with no burning droplets. Components such as junction boxes and connectors will not become ignition sources even under extreme conditions.

 l  Polymer materials pass both the needle flame and glowing wire tests

 All polymer materials—including backplates, encapsulation films, junction box housings, and sealants—meet the Glow Wire Ignition Temperature (GWIT) requirements and pass the IEC 60695-11-5 needle flame test, with a burn duration not exceeding 30 seconds and no ignition of the underlying indicator layer.

 l  The entire system complies with external building fire safety standards

 As part of a rooftop installation system, the modules have been tested in accordance with external building fire safety standards, ensuring that both individual modules and the entire rooftop system possess Class A fire spread performance.

 3. Arc-resistant design: Eliminating potential risks of electrical fires

 In addition to passive flame retardancy, Jinko’s Five-Star Fire-Resistant Modules also feature innovative active safety designs. The modules utilize a patented anti-arc junction box and connection technology, optimizing circuit design and contact resistance to fundamentally reduce the risk of DC arcing. Even during long-term high-voltage operation, they effectively suppress arcing caused by factors such as poor contact or aging—arc temperatures can reach thousands of degrees Celsius, making them one of the primary causes of fires in PV systems. Jinko has minimized this risk through structural innovation.

 4. Superior Mechanical Load Capacity: Building a Robust Physical Safety Barrier

 Beyond rigorous fire protection, JinkoSolar’s Five-Star Fire-Resistant modules boast exceptional mechanical reliability, eliminating safety hazards at the structural level. The modules have passed front-side load tests of 6,000 Pa and rear-side load tests of 4,000 Pa, capable of withstanding snow loads exceeding 600 kilograms per square meter; They have also successfully passed the 55-millimeter hail impact test (the highest level under IEC 61215)—a 55-millimeter hailstone is roughly the size of a tennis ball, and its impact force is sufficient to shatter ordinary glass. By utilizing high-strength tempered glass and a cushioning encapsulation structure, Jinko ensures the structural integrity of the modules under extreme weather conditions, safeguarding building safety
